GLSC doesn't plan offices as rows of desks. They plan them as neighborhoods — each with a distinct purpose, personality, and relationship to the others. This approach, adapted from urban planning, creates workplaces where people intuitively understand where to go for what.

The Neighborhood Planner is a guided digital workshop that helps you zone your office like a city. It walks through:

  • Identifying your required neighborhoods — every office needs a Library, a Main Street, a Kitchen, a Workshop, and Suburbs. The guide explains what each one is.
  • Sizing each neighborhood — how much square footage per person for each zone type, based on GLSC's project data.
  • Adjacency planning — which neighborhoods should touch, which should be separated. The Library should never be next to the Kitchen.
  • Circulation design — the paths between neighborhoods are where informal collaboration happens. The guide shows how to design them intentionally.
  • Furniture language per neighborhood — a Library uses different furniture than a Workshop. The guide provides direction for each.

Output: a Neighborhood Map (your floor plan zoned and labeled), a square footage allocation table, and a furniture direction brief for each zone. This is the spatial thinking behind Diamondback Energy’s multipurpose spaces, TCU’s study nooks, and Katten’s varied work zones. Scaled to your office.
